How it works.

Nutrition Counseling is an on-going process. During the first appointment, you meet with your registered dietitian who will collect your medical background and learn all there is to know about your eating behaviors and preferences. The dietitian completes a nutritional assessment, calculating your specific nutritional and metabolic needs based on your health conditions and health goals. General recommendations are made based on the initial assessment, however additional testing and further consultation with your treating Physician may be needed to complete your nutritional plan. A follow-up appointment is always recommended to establish and confirm your nutritional plan. At the follow-up appointment, your nutritional plan is reviewed and explained in detail.  Ideally, a second follow-up appointment is scheduled to allow time for the patient to try the nutritional plan and report back progress noted. During the follow-up appointments, adjustments to the nutritional plan may occur based on the patient's feedback and their progression towards health goals and/or symptoms and tolerance to specific foods.
